This season, Balmain\u2019s Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing, reflects on his nostalgic sense of fashion’s wonderment in the form of studded trousers, crystal beaded dresses, and laser-cut bodices. He begins the show with a letter to his 10 year old self, remembering the awe he felt towards the gilded glamour of the very venue his show is held \u2014 the Garnier Opera House.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis sense of awe that you\u2019re feeling, as you walk into Garnier\u2019s dazzling opera house, won\u2019t be just a one-time thing,\u201d writes Rousteing. \u201cOf course, the intensity will diminish over the years, but I can tell you \u2014 twenty-two years after this moment \u2014 that this same \u00e9merveillement will hit you each and every time you return. Yes, right now you might just be a ten-year-old kid from the provinces, wrapping up your first visit to the capital with a night at the Opera, but this is destined to become a guiding memory for you, crystallizing into another symbol of the future that you dream about \u2014 just like those music posters plastered across your bedroom walls and all those fashion editorials that you keep tearing out of magazines.\u201d<\/p>\n

Color Palette:<\/strong> Monochromatic black and white stripes, geometrics and graphic prints, black and clear pvc, vibrant blue and pink ruffles made into floral shapes.<\/p>\n

Key Pieces:<\/strong> Gold studded trousers, pvc jumpsuits and graphic print trenches, crystal beaded macrame dresses, thigh high boots, laser cut bodices, ruffled dresses and tailored jackets that have been deconstructed.<\/p>\n
