On Saturday September 7th The House Of Bushwig and Secret Project Robot held the second annual Bushwig festival.<\/p>\n
In the tradition of Wigstock, this year’s magical Bushwig was an 11 hour festival featuring over 50 performers from Brooklyn and beyond. Ballerina Bizet and I settled in for the entire event and we couldn’t have been more entertained checking out our favorite artists as well as discovering some new talent. In between the delightfully non-stop sets, I got to do some heavy duty investigative journalism by asking some of the performers what Bushwig meant to them…..<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “A fucked up Whitman’s Sampler Valentine’s box,”<\/em> said previously profiled Untitled Queen, ” on sale two days after.”<\/p>\n Ellen Degenerate and Amber Alert made the journey from Baltimore to perform “because they were invited”<\/em> and were excited to “go down in history channeling Mylie lyrics.”<\/em><\/p>\n “It’s a chance for all queens to get together and do a show as one,”<\/em> offered Stevie Zar (who will be featured in our next issue!)<\/p>\n Said Chris of Hur, “Everyone comes together. New people get to see what’s happening and what’s going on.”<\/em><\/p>\n Miranda Lanvin, who blew us away with her Cinderella-themed performance, stated, “It’s an opportunity to be yourself.”<\/em><\/p>\n Bacchaus observed we can now “do what we had to go to clubs in Manhattan to do before.”<\/em><\/p>\n “Complicated, wonderful, challenging,” Ariana Huffenstuff declared.<\/p>\n “That everyone is able to do drag<\/em>,” Charmin Ultra observed, “but not everyone CAN. \u00a0xxxx”<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In case you missed it, Hamm Samwich debuted a new track titled “Act Out.” Filmed by Elle Emenope.
