CHVRCHES<\/a>\u00a0are a fairly new, but already widely popular synth pop trio out of Glasgow, Scotland. Their first official single\u00a0“The Mother We Share”<\/a>\u00a0was released in November of 2012 and quickly caught the attention of\u00a0Glassnote Records<\/a>, who signed them in January of 2013 and released their\u00a0Recover EP<\/i>\u00a0just two months later. Debut full-length\u00a0The Bones of What You Believe\u00a0<\/i>followed in September\u00a0and the group show no signs of slowing down.<\/p>\n

Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty began making music together in late 2011. They were all involved in other musical projects at the time, but obviously something clicked in that basement studio in Glasgow.\u00a0The multitalented Cook handles guitar, bass, and synthesizers. Doherty adds the percussive samples that give CVHRCHES’ music\u00a0such a sharp and distintive sound, along with the undeniably piercing and emotive vocals of Mayberry, who can go from exultant to grieving in a single stanza while never sounding anything short of sincerely passionate.<\/p>\n

Wrapped together brilliantly into a style that is both accessible and unique, nearly every track on\u00a0The Bones of What You Believe<\/i>\u00a0is nothing short of infectious electronic pop perfection.\u00a0Do yourself a favor and grab a copy. But don’t blame me if the rest of your record collection starts gathering dust.<\/p>\n
