Their current exhibit is on view at Gallery SENSEI<\/a>, and is titled\u00a0\u201cRelaxing the Virgin.” It opened on April 25th<\/sup> and runs through May 15th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve written about past shows <\/a>this collective has put on. I\u2019ve also interviewed <\/a>\u00a0the three artists extensively. Regular readers know that part of what I appreciate about this collective and their work together is the three completely different styles these painters use to explore themes of gender and sexuality.<\/p>\n Kelsey Shwetz is the most traditional painter of the three. Her work is the most representational. Using classical forms to reference the history of art, Shwetz turns the traditional narrative on it\u2019s head by playing with gender roles.<\/p>\n Ehren Clodfelter is on the opposite end of the painting spectrum. He uses abstracted naturalistic forms to examine gender ambiguity and human form.<\/p>\n Beata Chrzanowska is the artist that unites the former two painter\u2019s styles.
