At that time I was experiencing a loss, a realization, and a profound shift in my heart’s consciousness and direction. [Empty Room] serves as the intro to my EP as well as my debut as a producer and musician. My intention for the video was to explore feelings of isolation and loss, not just in a romantic relationship but from myself. My lived experience as a non-binary person is ever present between the lines of the lyrics and even in the title of the EP itself. There are parts of the EP where I play with the tone of my vocals, experimenting and shifting away from a binary sound that is rooted in gender. There dissonance, dysphoria, and ultimately a return to love (self, or peer) reign heavily in my music. To say the least would be that this debut is personal, and therefore I feel it is political on a very intimate level. I feel the video explores these intersecting feelings and ideas, in a nuanced way.”

Check out the full EP for free on their SoundCloud.

. . .

Posture’s third print issue — The Boss Issue — is now available for purchase. This 168-page magazine features exclusive interviews with artists, theorists, activists, and nightlife icons.
