You may recognize her song “Waiting Game” from a Victoria’s Secret holiday commercial, but if you haven’t had the opportunity to further investigate the music from LA-based singer/songwriter Jillian Banks (better known simply as Banks), I’d suggest starting with new single “Beggin for Thread”. The song is beautiful, sultry, and alluring, as is the slightly NSFW video below.
Her style has been described as “dark R&B” and compared to artists like The Weeknd, with whom she joined on tour in the fall of 2013. Banks began writing music on a gifted keyboard at age 15 and credits Lauryn Hill and Fiona Apple as her largest influences. She released her first EP, Fall Over, in March of 2013 and followed up with London EP in September of the same year. Her first full-length, Goddess, is slated for a September 8 release on Harvest Records.
While you can follow Banks on Facebook and Twitter, she plainly states that both are run by her management and she prefers you get in touch with her directly at (323) 362-2658. Seriously. The woman gave her phone number out on Facebook. I’d call her, but my girlfriend might get jealous. Wink(?)
