Drag Event Review: Trifecta

“Come Experience the Power of Trifecta” | Written by Ballerina Bizet

So a new month just started. You paid your rent (or are trying to) and just got off a long day of work. You feel like starting your weekend early (Thursday night) but are not sure where to go. Well, look no further than Sugarland Nightclub for Trifecta, an amazing drag and dance show that will literally blow your mind.

Every first Thursday of the month drag sensations Krystal Something-Something, Alotta McGriddles, and Miz Jade come together to bring you Trifecta. The queens give the show a bit of a sci-fi, futuristic edge with a commanding but sassy electronic voice directing the show’s order. The show starts with each queen standing on her designated X on the stage. The voice then “activates phase Trifecta”, and the performers begin moving and acting in the qualities associated with their persona: Alotta McGriddles munching on a bag of French fries, calmly observing the other queens; Miz Jade sensually posing and showing off her body; and Krystal Something-Something moving in an abstract, and theatrical fashion. They are then told to activate “sequence 1”. The queens take the stage one at a time, each performing a number that has the crowd screaming for more. Upon the completion of “Sequence 1”, the performers and crowd take a break for drinks, cigarettes, and chatting while DJ n0b0dy spins a mix of amazing dance beats. There are three sequences total with the show starting at midnight. With Trifecta you are not just getting a group of drag queens; you are getting some of the best of what nightlife has to offer. You will be blown away by the look, sexiness, talent, and creativity of these incredible drag queens. And while each performer has her own descriptive qualities, they all can also transcend these to give diverse and mind-bending performances. So come see Trifecta. Or as the ladies aptly put it: “3x the show, 3x the creativity, 3x the variety. Come gag on the epic”.

Trifecta happens every 1st Thursday of the month at Sugarland Nightclub, located at 221 N. 9th Street between Driggs and Roebling in Williamsburg. No cover, show starts at midnight.
