GayFace: 1st Class is an on-going collection of photographs taken by Ashley Kolodner where the subject is shot with eyes closed and then again with eyes open. Ashley began this project in 2011 with the goal to “show the many faces of the community and create a platform for individuals to voice their truths.”
“My mission through GAYFACE: 1st CLASS, and the accompanying ALLYFACE photo series is to unite and empower the full-spectrum of the LGBTQ community and our allies. In doing so we will give this community a voice through the pages of this first edition portraiture book.”
Not only will the book contain captivating and vibrant images, but will also feature people’s unique stories. GAYFACE allows individuals to label themselves as they wish (or not at all) and seeks to break social barriers and stereotypes.
The Kickstarter launched last night and has a goal amount of $46,720. The GAYFACE team plans to travel to over 28 states and collect at least 2,000 portraits. Please support this project and help Ashley publish this powerful book!
