Milosh tells us that sensitivity is more manly than muscles

Author | Michelle King

“America really pushes this idea that men are supposed be muscular and huge. I don’t think men are that stereotyped; I think to be sensitive and honest and caring and loving is a lot more manly than lifting weights and wearing a tank top. It’s more manly to be in love with someone.” – Michael Milosh

If you have heard of Rhye, the duo behind critically acclaimed single “Open” and album Woman (Polydor, 2013), then you already know Milosh. Michael Milosh’s seductive falsetto is the one so many falsely accredited to an anonymous female vocalist in the early days of Rhye’s emergence into the public eye. And while Rhye may have gained significantly more popularity in recent years, the Canadian-born singer and electronic musician insists that the collaboration with Robin Hannibal remains a side project.

As a solo musician, Milosh has released four full-length albums since 2004, the most recent being Jet Lag (Deadly, 2013), which he co-produced with wife Alexa Nikolas in their Los Angeles home. Standout tracks include “Slow Down” and “This Time,” both of which you can watch below. Also stream “Remember the Good Things” from his third album, released in 2008 and appropriately titled iii. 0001990718_10
Milosh does rely heavily on his vocal finesse, but being a classically trained musician, he’s also able to craft beautiful soundscapes to gently carry that voice and deliver it to the listener like a ring on a pillow. Comparable to artists like The Weeknd, Milosh’s electro-R&B is smooth and sultry and his lyrics painfully honest, sometimes bordering on too revealing. Milosh will be the first to admit that he makes music with the intention of moving his listener, and he’s also not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. Pull up the lyrics to a few Milosh songs or pay close attention when you’re listening, and I think you’ll see what I mean.
