Mélissa Laveaux is a French-Canadian musician who currently resides in Paris. Her enjoyable sound, which could be described as “indie afrorock,” is that of acoustic folk meets commanding pop. She put out her very first record in 2006 with Malleable Records, but has since signed with the independent label NØ FØRMAT!. She just released a new EP on December 3rd titled “Memory is a Strange Bell” which consists of four tracks. A music video was created for one of the songs, “Triggers,” which features a complicated relationship with another woman.
Her music is intimate, sensual, and rich with symbolism.
