Inspired both by my weekend jaunt to Savannah and also having the recent privilege of setting ears to their new record True Love Kills The Fairy Tale (due out this spring)… allow me to introduce you to Savannah, GA’s own The Casket Girls.
The trio consists of vocalists (and lyricists) Phaedra and Elsa Greene with Ryan Graveface (Graveface Records, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Dreamend, etc) producing and recording the haunting soundscapes. Story has it the three came together when Graveface happened upon the sisters singing strange melodies to the tune of an autoharp under a tree in downtown Savannah. They call the music that has followed “eerie pop,” and I think that fits pretty well.
After their well-recieved 2012 debut LP Sleepwalking and a couple special releases (Cassette Store Day “cassingle”, Record Store Day self-titled LP), they are prepping their aforementioned sophomore effort for Feb 11, 2014 on none other than Graveface Records.
They’re also headlining a North American tour early next year, joined by label mates The Stargazer Lilies, Dreamed, and Dott. Check out the Graveface Roadshow 2014 cities and dates here and watch the trailer for the new album and the video for “Heartless” from Sleepwalking below.
