Saturday, June 21st | 7-10pm
Lura (949 Columbus Avenue, NYC, 10025)
Posture Magazine and Austin Green, curator of Lura NY, present: “The Grey Area,” a group exhibition featuring the work of prominent and emerging queer and like-minded artists.
The exhibition will run from June 16, 2014 – July 14, 2014 with an opening reception on the first Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 7pm – 10pm.
Today, despite growing acceptance and visibility of gay, lesbian, and trans individuals into the mainstream, many are still marginalized choosing not to be defined by such prescribed labels. It is within this ‘grey area’ that a beautiful new spectrum of queer culture is taking shape tackling the ideas of sexuality, complex identity, human rights, self expression, perception, society, and culture. It is this dialog that will shape the next generation.
The exhibit will feature works from multiple ‘artists to watch’ throughout Lura’s multi-level dining and bar space. Works range from painting, video, photography, performance and more exploring the concept of identity and other pertinent queer themes. Lura is proud to host this exciting event in conjunction with NYC Pride month.
